Energy Demands of Data Centres

Energy-intensive Digitalisation

In light of the rising energy demands due to the cross-industry increase in digitalisation, companies face the challenge of combining efficiency and sustainability in their data centres.

Heating Demands Among the Population

Lack of Waste Heat Utilisation

Data centres generate valuable waste heat, which often goes unused, even though it could simultaneously meet the heating demands of many types of buildings.

Overview of Cloud Players

Challenges for Cloud Safety

Today's cloud solutions do not provide sufficient security for critical applications, as privileged access and potential backdoors by third parties jeopardise data confidentiality integrity, forcing many companies to rely on expensive on-prem infrastructures.

Legal Regulations

Transatlantic Data Protection Conflict

The lack of data sovereignty is not only due to insufficient technical protection features but also to the significant disparity between the legal systems in the USA, China and the EU, leading to considerable compliance challenges for companies.

Diagram of Building Integration

Energy Use Directly in the Building

By using green, modular, and secure edge-cloud-modules that are efficiently integrated into building technology, waste heat is effectively utilised through immersion cooling, thereby minimising energy waste.

From BiGreen to BitHeat

Green Edge-Cloud Technology –
Fully Integrated Into Building Technology

The BiGreen Project, by Lindner SE, is working on highly innovative, modular edge-cloud computing systems that can be seamlessly integrated into the building services of new constructions and existing buildings. The heat emitted during the use is directly utilised on-site for heating the building, hot water preparation or process heat. The energy is intended to come primarily from local, renewable energy sources.  The “swarm” of distributed edge-cloud-systems is intelligently controlled to optimise the balance between the renewable energy, the utilisation of the resulting waste heat and the available computing power. In addition, a completely new, multidimensional security and access concept – known as multi-layer full stack confidential computing – protects the systems.
